A 27 Feb 1830 New Hampshire birth is frequently attributed to Archibald Campbell, Jr. in online genealogies at Ancestry.com, but no source is cited.

The 1850 U.S. census shows two men by the name of Archibald Campbell living in the same household in Calaveras, Calaveras Co, California. Both are miners. The first, age 46, owning $2000 of real estate, was born in Massachusetts, and the second, age 20, was born in New Hampshire. The date of enumeration was 14 Oct 1850. This looks a lot like Archibald Campbell, Sr., and Archibald Campbell, Jr.

However, the 1850 U.S. census shows the two men living in Oxford, Worcester Co, MA. Archibald Campbell, Sr. age 45, farmer, born in Massachusetts, and Archibald Campbell, Jr., age 20, shoemaker, born in New Hampshire were living with Artemesia, James B., Celia R. and William A. in Oxford. The date of enumeration was 25 Sep 1850. It seems unlikely the two men could have been in both places at once.

Archibald Campbell, Jr. does not appear in any later census records in Oxford, and Archibald Campbell, Sr. does not appear in the 1855 census in Oxford - his family is enumerated without him present. However, he does appear in Oxford in the 1860 and later census records. These facts are consistent with both Archibalds going to California, perhaps for gold, and Archibald, Sr., returning home without his son.

In 1860, Archibald Campbell, single, born about 1830 in NH, is enumerated in the U.S. census living in West Point Judicial Township, Calaveras Co, California. In 1880 an Archie Campbell, age 50, born in New Hampshire, both parents born in Massachusetts, was living in Calaveras, California. He was single, a farmer.

An Archibald Campbell was living in Calaveras at least through 1900, when he is found in the voting registers and the census. The 1900 census shows Archie Campbell living in Calaveras Co, California, single, born Jun 1832 in New Hampshire, both parents born in New Hampshire - possibly a different Archibald than the ones enumerated in Calavaras in 1850-80 census.

There is an Archibald Campbell buried in Redding Memorial Park, Redding, Shasta Co, California, born 16 Nov 1830, died 31 July 1882 (FindAGrave 38203618).

There are two documents that might clarify the location of Archibald Campbell, Jr. The first is a Worcester County deed (1163:579), dated 1884, in which Archibald Campbell grants land in Oxford to John B. Campbell. If these are both children of Archibald, Sr. and Artemesia, the deed might clarify where Archibald, Jr. lived.

There does not appear to be a will on file in Worcester County for Archibald Campbell, Sr. However, there is an 1894 probate document (Sep. Support) for an Archibald Campbell, of Oxford, dated 1894, case 17476. This might provide relevant information if this summons is for Archibald Campbell, Jr. See Worcester County probate Series B index.
